A Message from our Administration
Dear Students, Parents, and Guardians:
We are excited to welcome you back for what is sure to be a school year like no other! Although we had hoped to put school closures in our rearview mirrors, it looks as though it will continue through the foreseeable future. So, while “virtual learning” was not our choice, we are confident that we can and will provide a quality educational experience for our kids and families to start the new school year.
To provide some background, all schools in San Diego County are closed to in-person learning by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) and the local health order until San Diego County is removed from the state’s monitoring list and meets other conditions. Our staff, students, and families did an amazing job transitioning to distance learning in the spring and with our new Continuity of Learning Plan, distance learning will be even more robust with daily live interaction, minimum instructional minutes, and small group opportunities. Our best teaching and learning occurs with children at their teachers providing real-time instruction with immediate feedback, adjusting instruction to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of ALL students.
Throughout these difficult times, staff and student safety and well-being remain a top priority. To promote a safe working and learning environment, the Board approved our Safe Return to School Plan which outlines the policies and procedures to promote and maintain a safe environment at school when we are permitted to return. We thank those of you who have shared your input regarding our safe return to school plans, including those who serve on the Safe School Reopening Task Force and the School Improvement Committee. Most of our families have shared an eagerness to return to “real school” as soon as it is safe to do so, therefore, our efforts are focused on bringing the maximum number of students back to the campus when it is both safe and permissible to do so.
Thank you for your continued partnership in providing a safe, supportive, and productive environment in which our kids can learn and grow. While things will surely look different to start the 2020-21 school year, one thing remains certain. We can’t wait to welcome you back to school!
