March 20 Update

March 20, 2020

Dear San Pasqual Families,

Earlier this week, California Governor Gavin Newsom shared that schools may not reopen this school year. While he has since qualified this statement, the reality remains that no one knows for sure when our schools, including the Little School in the Valley, will actually reopen.  At this time, our scheduled return date remains April 14th.  However, it is more accurate to tell you that our return date is undetermined.  We will continue to monitor the situation and provide regular updates along the way.

While we are uncertain how long this closure will last, what we do know if that we will continue to do everything in our power to support our children and to maintain the continuity of learning.  The Crisis Management Information page on our website contains distance learning resources and activities prepared by your child’s teacher(s) along with information on student meals, childcare, and disease prevention.  At this point, your child’s teacher(s) should have communicated with you to discuss plans and supports for at-home learning during school closure.  If you need any assistance getting connected with your child’s teacher(s), I would be happy to assist.

As a parent, I know how difficult and disconcerting this time can be, especially in light of the Governor’s recent “stay at home” order.  While challenging for us all, I’m optimistic that by sticking together as a community and observing the restrictions and following basic health practices, we will get through these troubling times, stronger and more resilient as a result.

Take care of one another and I will continue to communicate regularly as we know more.
