July 15 Update

July  15, 2020

Dear San Pasqual Families,

In these most challenging of times, I hope this message finds you and your family in good health and good spirits.  I know that you are anxiously awaiting our announcement regarding school reopening plans for the upcoming school year.  Please know that we remain committed to developing plans to safely resume in-person instruction starting on August 19th.  However, any return to on-campus instruction will be predicated on a safe school environment and guided through consultation with health officials, our families, labor partners, and the SPUSD Governing Board.

Although we have yet to finalize the 2020-21 instructional options, based on current guidance and governmental mandates, we anticipate protocols for daily health screenings of students and staff, physical distancing, facial coverings, and enhanced cleaning.  In addition to any in-person learning options, we plan to offer distance learning for families who so choose.

Next week, we will host multiple focus groups, including a “Virtual Coffee with the Principal” session on July 24th at 9:30 am.   I encourage all of you to join me using the following meeting access information:

Meeting ID: 604 760 6814

Feel free to submit questions or other input in advance of the “Virtual Coffee.”  For those unable to attend, we will post a recording of the session on our school’s YouTube channel and summarize the frequently asked questions on our website.  Additionally, the input from that session will be presented to the SPUSD Governing Board when they convene on July 28th.  I anticipate sharing our approved “Safe Return to School Plan” with you on July 29th.  At that time, we will also initiate enrollment for all students for on-campus (if available) or distance learning.

I thank you for your patience as we work through the complexities needed to create a safe and supportive environment for our students, families, and staff.  Stay well and I look forward to welcoming you back to school.
